Passaic should keep the Reid open
Let me tell you why I am interested in the Reid Library in Passaic. I was born (in the old Beth on Madison Street) almost 77 years ago. I am an immigrant child. For my first 20 years, I lived a half-block away from the library. Summertime, the library was my day camp. Most days after school was library time, not only for me, but for many of my friends and classmates, all immigrant children from many ethnic persuasions.
We perfected our reading skills here. We learned so many things from the books. The librarians were our friends. What a wonderful place to be in.
Do not deny the newest immigrants and their children the same opportunities that I and my friends had so many years ago.
Keep the library open!
